The Beneficent · 78 آية · مدنية

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

1
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ

al-raḥmānu

It is the Lord of Mercy

2
عَلَّمَٱلْقُرْءَانَ

ʿallama l-qur'āna

who taught the Quran.

3
خَلَقَٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ

khalaqa l-insāna

He created man

4
عَلَّمَهُٱلْبَيَانَ

ʿallamahu l-bayāna

and taught him to communicate.

5
ٱلشَّمْسُوَٱلْقَمَرُبِحُسْبَانٍۢ

al-shamsu wal-qamaru biḥus'bānin

The sun and the moon follow their calculated courses;

6
وَٱلنَّجْمُوَٱلشَّجَرُيَسْجُدَانِ

wal-najmu wal-shajaru yasjudāni

the plants and the trees submit to His designs;

7
وَٱلسَّمَآءَرَفَعَهَاوَوَضَعَٱلْمِيزَانَ

wal-samāa rafaʿahā wawaḍaʿa l-mīzāna

He has raised up the sky. He has set the balance

8
أَلَّاتَطْغَوْا۟فِىٱلْمِيزَانِ

allā taṭghaw fī l-mīzāni

so that you may not exceed in the balance:

9
وَأَقِيمُوا۟ٱلْوَزْنَبِٱلْقِسْطِوَلَاتُخْسِرُوا۟ٱلْمِيزَانَ

wa-aqīmū l-wazna bil-qis'ṭi walā tukh'sirū l-mīzāna

weigh with justice and do not fall short in the balance.

10
وَٱلْأَرْضَوَضَعَهَالِلْأَنَامِ

wal-arḍa waḍaʿahā lil'anāmi

He set down the Earth for His creatures,

11
فِيهَافَـٰكِهَةٌۭوَٱلنَّخْلُذَاتُٱلْأَكْمَامِ

fīhā fākihatun wal-nakhlu dhātu l-akmāmi

with its fruits, its palm trees with sheathed clusters,

12
وَٱلْحَبُّذُوٱلْعَصْفِوَٱلرَّيْحَانُ

wal-ḥabu dhū l-ʿaṣfi wal-rayḥānu

its husked grain, its fragrant plants.

13
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

14
خَلَقَٱلْإِنسَـٰنَمِنصَلْصَـٰلٍۢكَٱلْفَخَّارِ

khalaqa l-insāna min ṣalṣālin kal-fakhāri

He created mankind out of dried clay, like pottery,

15
وَخَلَقَٱلْجَآنَّمِنمَّارِجٍۢمِّننَّارٍۢ

wakhalaqa l-jāna min mārijin min nārin

the jinn out of smokeless fire.

16
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

17
رَبُّٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِوَرَبُّٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ

rabbu l-mashriqayni warabbu l-maghribayni

He is Lord of the two risings and Lord of the two settings.

18
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

19
مَرَجَٱلْبَحْرَيْنِيَلْتَقِيَانِ

maraja l-baḥrayni yaltaqiyāni

He released the two bodies of [fresh and salt] water. They meet,

20
بَيْنَهُمَابَرْزَخٌۭلَّايَبْغِيَانِ

baynahumā barzakhun lā yabghiyāni

yet there is a barrier between them they do not cross.

21
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

22
يَخْرُجُمِنْهُمَاٱللُّؤْلُؤُوَٱلْمَرْجَانُ

yakhruju min'humā l-lu'lu-u wal-marjānu

Pearls come forth from them: large ones, and small, brilliant ones.

23
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

24
وَلَهُٱلْجَوَارِٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُفِىٱلْبَحْرِكَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ

walahu l-jawāri l-munshaātu fī l-baḥri kal-aʿlāmi

His are the moving ships that float, high as mountains, on the sea.

25
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

26
كُلُّمَنْعَلَيْهَافَانٍۢ

kullu man ʿalayhā fānin

Everyone on earth perishes;

27
وَيَبْقَىٰوَجْهُرَبِّكَذُوٱلْجَلَـٰلِوَٱلْإِكْرَامِ

wayabqā wajhu rabbika dhū l-jalāli wal-ik'rāmi

all that remains is the Face of your Lord, full of majesty, bestowing honour.

28
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

29
يَسْـَٔلُهُۥمَنفِىٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِوَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚكُلَّيَوْمٍهُوَفِىشَأْنٍۢ

yasaluhu man fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi kulla yawmin huwa fī shanin

Everyone in heaven and earth entreats Him; every day He is at work.

30
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

31
سَنَفْرُغُلَكُمْأَيُّهَٱلثَّقَلَانِ

sanafrughu lakum ayyuha l-thaqalāni

We shall attend to you two huge armies [of jinn and mankind].

32
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

33
يَـٰمَعْشَرَٱلْجِنِّوَٱلْإِنسِإِنِٱسْتَطَعْتُمْأَنتَنفُذُوا۟مِنْأَقْطَارِٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِوَٱلْأَرْضِفَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚلَاتَنفُذُونَإِلَّابِسُلْطَـٰنٍۢ

yāmaʿshara l-jini wal-insi ini is'taṭaʿtum an tanfudhū min aqṭāri l-samāwāti wal-arḍi fa-unfudhū lā tanfudhūna illā bisul'ṭānin

Jinn and mankind, if you can pass beyond the regions of heaven and earth, then do so: you will not pass without Our authority.

34
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

35
يُرْسَلُعَلَيْكُمَاشُوَاظٌۭمِّننَّارٍۢوَنُحَاسٌۭفَلَاتَنتَصِرَانِ

yur'salu ʿalaykumā shuwāẓun min nārin wanuḥāsun falā tantaṣirāni

A flash of fire and smoke will be released upon you and no one will come to your aid.

36
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

37
فَإِذَاٱنشَقَّتِٱلسَّمَآءُفَكَانَتْوَرْدَةًۭكَٱلدِّهَانِ

fa-idhā inshaqqati l-samāu fakānat wardatan kal-dihāni

When the sky is torn apart and turns crimson, like red hide.

38
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

39
فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢلَّايُسْـَٔلُعَنذَنۢبِهِۦٓإِنسٌۭوَلَاجَآنٌّۭ

fayawma-idhin lā yus'alu ʿan dhanbihi insun walā jānnun

On that Day neither mankind nor jinn will be asked about their sins.

40
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

41
يُعْرَفُٱلْمُجْرِمُونَبِسِيمَـٰهُمْفَيُؤْخَذُبِٱلنَّوَٰصِىوَٱلْأَقْدَامِ

yuʿ'rafu l-muj'rimūna bisīmāhum fayu'khadhu bil-nawāṣī wal-aqdāmi

The guilty will be known by their mark and will be seized by their foreheads and their feet.

42
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

43
هَـٰذِهِۦجَهَنَّمُٱلَّتِىيُكَذِّبُبِهَاٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ

hādhihi jahannamu allatī yukadhibu bihā l-muj'rimūna

This is the Hell the guilty deny,

44
يَطُوفُونَبَيْنَهَاوَبَيْنَحَمِيمٍءَانٍۢ

yaṭūfūna baynahā wabayna ḥamīmin ānin

but they will go round between its flames and scalding water.

45
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

46
وَلِمَنْخَافَمَقَامَرَبِّهِۦجَنَّتَانِ

waliman khāfa maqāma rabbihi jannatāni

For those who fear [the time when they will] stand before their Lord there are two gardens.

47
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

48
ذَوَاتَآأَفْنَانٍۢ

dhawātā afnānin

With shading branches.

49
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

50
فِيهِمَاعَيْنَانِتَجْرِيَانِ

fīhimā ʿaynāni tajriyāni

With a pair of flowing springs.

51
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

52
فِيهِمَامِنكُلِّفَـٰكِهَةٍۢزَوْجَانِ

fīhimā min kulli fākihatin zawjāni

With every kind of fruit in pairs.

53
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

54
مُتَّكِـِٔينَعَلَىٰفُرُشٍۭبَطَآئِنُهَامِنْإِسْتَبْرَقٍۢ ۚوَجَنَىٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِدَانٍۢ

muttakiīna ʿalā furushin baṭāinuhā min is'tabraqin wajanā l-janatayni dānin

They will sit on couches upholstered with brocade, the fruit of both gardens within easy reach.

55
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

56
فِيهِنَّقَـٰصِرَٰتُٱلطَّرْفِلَمْيَطْمِثْهُنَّإِنسٌۭقَبْلَهُمْوَلَاجَآنٌّۭ

fīhinna qāṣirātu l-ṭarfi lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnun

There will be maidens restraining their glances, untouched beforehand by man or jinn.

57
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

58
كَأَنَّهُنَّٱلْيَاقُوتُوَٱلْمَرْجَانُ

ka-annahunna l-yāqūtu wal-marjānu

Like rubies and brilliant pearls.

59
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

60
هَلْجَزَآءُٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِإِلَّاٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ

hal jazāu l-iḥ'sāni illā l-iḥ'sānu

Shall the reward of good be anything but good?

61
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

62
وَمِندُونِهِمَاجَنَّتَانِ

wamin dūnihimā jannatāni

There are two other gardens below these two.

63
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

64
مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ

mud'hāmmatāni

Both of deepest green.

65
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

66
فِيهِمَاعَيْنَانِنَضَّاخَتَانِ

fīhimā ʿaynāni naḍḍākhatāni

With a pair of gushing springs.

67
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

68
فِيهِمَافَـٰكِهَةٌۭوَنَخْلٌۭوَرُمَّانٌۭ

fīhimā fākihatun wanakhlun warummānun

With fruits- date palms and pomegranate trees.

69
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

70
فِيهِنَّخَيْرَٰتٌحِسَانٌۭ

fīhinna khayrātun ḥisānun

There are good-natured, beautiful maidens.

71
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

72
حُورٌۭمَّقْصُورَٰتٌۭفِىٱلْخِيَامِ

ḥūrun maqṣūrātun fī l-khiyāmi

Dark-eyed, sheltered in pavilions.

73
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

74
لَمْيَطْمِثْهُنَّإِنسٌۭقَبْلَهُمْوَلَاجَآنٌّۭ

lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnun

Untouched beforehand by man or jinn.

75
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

76
مُتَّكِـِٔينَعَلَىٰرَفْرَفٍخُضْرٍۢوَعَبْقَرِىٍّحِسَانٍۢ

muttakiīna ʿalā rafrafin khuḍ'rin waʿabqariyyin ḥisānin

They will all sit on green cushions and fine carpets.

77
فَبِأَىِّءَالَآءِرَبِّكُمَاتُكَذِّبَانِ

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibāni

Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

78
تَبَـٰرَكَٱسْمُرَبِّكَذِىٱلْجَلَـٰلِوَٱلْإِكْرَامِ

tabāraka us'mu rabbika dhī l-jalāli wal-ik'rāmi

Blessed is the name of your Lord, full of majesty, bestowing honour.
