Data stored on your device
Your settings, bookmarks, notes, reading progress and chosen reciter are stored locally in your browser. This information never leaves your device and is not sent to us.
Location
If you choose to see prayer times for your location, your approximate coordinates are used only within your browser to calculate prayer times. We do not store your location on any server, and you can instead search for a city by name.
Qur’an and hadith content
Qur’an text, translations and recitation audio are requested from our content service as you browse. These requests include only the surah, verse or reciter being viewed.
Cookies & analytics
We use first-party analytics to measure page visits, reading engagement and performance. A random visitor ID is kept in local storage for up to 90 days; events include page paths, browser/device type, approximate country, campaign labels and the external referring site, without its path or query. IP addresses are hashed with a daily salt rather than stored in the event log. Raw events are retained for up to 90 days. Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control and the analytics preference below disable collection.
Children
Al-Qalam can be used without creating an account. Parents can disable optional analytics using the controls below.
